Actor. Educator. Director.
Julia has committed her life to engaging students in the
classroom and audiences from the stage.
As an actor, she loves collaborating on new work. Some of her
favorite projects included working with B.D. Wong and
Wayne Barker on their musical Mister Doctor and the
indie rock band Home by Hovercraft on their musical titled
On the Eve. As well as, La Jolla Playhouse's Theatre for
Young Audience play titled Home of the Brave.
As an educator, she has taught Acting and Musical Theatre History
at San Diego State University and was an invited guest Musical Theatre teacher at the Elizabethan Drama Center in Taipei, Taiwan. Prior to moving to San Diego, she taught high school Theatre and English in Oregon. In 2018, she was selected as one of only ten teaching artists in the country by the Educational Theatre Association to contribute to the National Cornerstone Theatre Assessment Pilot Project.
As a director, she has directed and produced over 40 productions ranging from Shakespeare to Sondheim. Most recently she was a guest director at Coronado Playhouse.
She has combined all of these experiences to help in her current position as Director of Education and Outreach at the Tony award-winning La Jolla Playhouse where she oversees multiple in school programs, audience engagement events and the Performance Outreach Program (POP) Tour, a Theatre for Young Audience play that performs for 20,000 students annually.
